A WORLD OF COLOR

No new color system. No compromises.

Description

RIALTO is for projects where texture matters. Our most matte, mineral-forward lime plaster finish, made for walls where quiet sophistication speaks louder than gloss.

Made in Italy using aged lime and finely sifted marble powders, Rialto builds a dry, velvety surface with subtle tonal variation and zero sheen. The result is raw without being rough. Earthy without being heavy.

Contemporary interiors, historical restorations, and anywhere wood, stone, or concrete set the tone.

Application
01
Prepare the Surface
Clean, dry, and structurally sound. Remove loose material, oil, grease, and dust. Fill irregularities. Prime with Violante PRIMO STRATO. Allow to dry fully before proceeding.
02
First Coat
Apply in thin, even strokes using a stainless steel trowel. Work in sections, keeping a wet edge to avoid lap marks. The first coat builds coverage and creates the base for the final finish. Allow to dry fully before proceeding.
03
Second Coat & Burnish
Apply the second coat thinly with varied trowel directions. Once partially set, burnish with a clean stainless steel trowel. More passes with firmer pressure build variation and depth in the surface. Fewer passes produce a more uniform, consolidated color. Adjust to your desired result.
04
Curing
Initial hardness develops in 24–48 hours. True final hardness is achieved through carbonation, as lime reabsorbs CO₂ from air. This natural process continues over several months, steadily increasing durability.

Compatible Surfaces
  • Primed drywall / gypsum board
  • Plaster and stucco
  • Concrete (primed)
  • Existing painted surfaces (primed)
  • Over existing Violante plaster coats
  • Exterior surfaces
  • Unprimed or unprepared surfaces
  • High-moisture areas without sealer
Important Notes
  • Protect finished surfaces from rain or water contact for a minimum of 48–72 hours after application.
  • For exterior applications, ensure the substrate is sound, fully primed, and protected from direct rain during the curing period.
  • Color may vary slightly between batches. Complete a project using product from the same production lot where possible.
  • For shower or wet area use, allow at least one week for initial curing, then apply 2 coats of a Natural Stone Impregnator or water-based stone sealer.
  • Refer to the RIALTO Safety Data Sheet for full handling, PPE, and disposal requirements.

Frequently Asked
RIALTO is a matte Venetian Marmorino that gives you full control over the final surface. Burnish with more passes and firmer pressure to build variation and depth. Ease off for a more consolidated, uniform color. No two applications are exactly alike. RIALTO also works as a base layer beneath both RIVO and GRASSELLO, adding texture under the surface so satin and polished finishes carry added depth and dimension.
Yes, RIALTO is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. For exterior use, the substrate must be sound, fully primed, and protected from direct rain during and immediately after application. Exterior lime plasters are breathable and naturally resistant to weathering, but proper surface preparation is critical for long-term performance.
Yes, priming is essential. We recommend Violante PRIMO STRATO, our micro-granular anchor primer designed specifically for lime plaster adhesion. It creates a bonded, textured surface that ensures RIALTO locks properly to the substrate. Apply one coat and allow to dry fully before starting your first RIALTO coat.
Yes, with appropriate sealing. Allow RIALTO to cure for at least one week after application, then apply 2 coats of a Natural Stone Impregnator or water-based stone sealer. The matte, open texture of RIALTO can absorb moisture if left unsealed, so sealing is particularly important in high-humidity environments.
RIALTO applies in 2 coats, with each coat requiring drying time before the next. For most projects, you can expect to complete application over 2 days: primer and first coat on day one, second coat on day two. Exact timing depends on conditions like temperature, humidity, and substrate porosity.
Small repairs can be made by feathering fresh RIALTO into the damaged area using the same application technique. For best color matching, use product from the same production batch. New plaster will initially appear slightly lighter and will blend more naturally as it cures and ages alongside the surrounding finish.

LIGHT ABSORBED. CHARACTER REVEALED.

Burnished for character, not gloss. Rialto develops a rich, textured surface that changes with the light and improves with age.
